First, let me clarify, items are not (yet) limited based upon the size of the player base. Our player base has not become big enough (I
wish this was a problem for us) to make this necessary, it is something I am leaning towards implementing in the future. Myrrima, you and I have discussed this, I suspect you had a minor memory lapse.
Second, I actually do believe the right solution is building. You can say that adding an area that has some interesting containers won't help, but that doesn't make it so. I bet I could simply add a clone of the bag of holding so that we could double the limit on them and I bet (from the player's perspective) for a while, this "problem" would entirely disappear. I assume that at some point in the future, more interesting containers will be added to the game, I've decided to try to rely on the builders to create the concepts behind them rather than make them myself, because I have lots of other things to do. Further, I do not actually view this as a problem, I few it as a challenge, mostly a challenge for the players to overcome. Many things affect encumbrance and a player's ability to manipulate items. If you can't get a bag of holding, like most other players, maybe you should try focusing on one (or more!) of the other aspects for aid.
Finally, please know that your ideas are appreciated. It is not uncommon for me to experience the same thing, some ideas sound good at first or in theory, but then lose some of their appeal after further discussion or reflection. That does not mean they will not help generate other ideas and disucssions that are more fruitful. It also does not mean they are not worth sharing.
Thank you all sharing your thoughts.
