This was my first mudd and only until about 3 months ago did I really even bother with trying another mudd. There are no mudds out there like DL. DL is totally unique to mudd rp'ing. Though rp'ing seems to only be useful to level for hero class, one can still make it fun with a small group and do some exploring. And besides, since you get more exp during rp, exploring is that much more useful while rp.

There are many ideas that other mudds have that just go over the top. The lack of actions or things to do on DL make it much simpler to get around and figure things out when you're new here. There are a few things that could be added though and those ideas are on the "Ideas" Forum.

With playing other mudds I really don't feel like it matters that I'm a new player there. No one is as helpful as they are here. And you want to talk about eq hording? WOW, you think it's bad here, try another mudd where the eq doesn't always load. You'll find some eq hording then.

Class in DL are well formed and easy to figure out. Some classes have a bit more benefit than others and there are tricks for each class that some keep secret and one must learn on their own, which is fine by me. Mobs are great in DL and very much so balanced, go to another mudd and you'll find out that things are a little different when killing mobs, and truthfully I haven't found much mob interaction during a battle there, you pretty much know what the mob will do during the battle. You can't expect the mobs there to figure out what alignment you are and cast the appropriate spell or try to knock you down as soon as you stand. You won't find a mob tracking you very much there or portaling to you and beating everyone down, even those that are afk *Blush*. (Sorry).

I think a major place where DL lacks is in it's shops. You can hardly sell items in shops. It is nice to have the consig shops and set a price for your items that are a bit more rare and cost far more than a shop could afford. But for the smaller items I feel a shop should be able to purchase them. (Maybe an appraisal limit of 10k.) It will just give more money to players, and more money to spend on items that people put up for consignment. It will also give more people a chance to feel more a part of the game and buy a house and items for that house when they can. It's a goal of mine for my guild to own a house that can be used by anyone in the game, atleast the first room.

The players in DL are wonderful. Everyone has those they like, dislike, or just talk to to be amiable. I have a few friends that I feel I can always count on and many more player that I like and will help freely when I can. I know there are a few players that really don't like me and that's okay. I'll still help them if they need it. There aren't at this time any players that I don't like. There were a few but they were taken care of my staff because no one liked them and they acted inappropriately towards a staff member that I hold dear. (Wipes off his nose.)

Much love to everyone and I hope to read more posts about opinions on DL and how much they like/dislike aspects of the game.

I've been playing DL for around eight years, nine this coming May, and it's the only one I've ever really enjoyed. The people are great, the code is amazing and the zones are a blast to explore.

It's been a fun eight years, and I look forward to another fun eight ;)

It is sooooooo great, nice people around. Item system is definite best. Large amount of area could be explored.
And it is addictive, really addictive....

Yes. Yes it does.

;)

But if it makes you feel any better, I'm right up there with you. Well, not quite, but, yeah.

now i have to say that DL ummm i'm gonna go with rocks my face off! seriously i have at least tried once every mud i've ever found. (Does that mean i have no life, probably but i'll get over it). DL is unquestionably my favorite. There isn't anywhere else on the web with people like we have here. That goes for everybody from players to staff. I've never seen anywhere else have the kind of community we do. It is like a little family. (awww how cute). But, anyways dl rocks, lots of fun, cool people, ya ok that was it. laterz.

well i have been around about 4 and a half years and this is the only mudd i have ever stuck with it was my first and to tell you the truth i wouldn't go anywhere else its the best place on the Internet to spend my precious time. People here are like family to me there kind helpful and always willing to take time out of there day to explain or help in anyway they can. There even willing to comfort you in times of need. witch has helped me several times. Plus this game allows anyone with basic typing skills to build on there game so really it is there game but in a sense its our game and we can make it how we see fit. witch is awesome to say the least. what other mudd allows just anyone to come in and contribute to the game in this way. So Distant Lands you got my vote and another 4 years of committed mudding and building thanks again for this great community gaming experience. thats my 2 cents and im sticking with it
