We'll be running a monthly or sometimes weekly contest here. The first one is for the best ideas for contests! Make it something that will work for the web and keep it to appropriate subjects! Winners will receive MPPs or other items in the game!

Well, I was thinking of a few ideas, and I found one that I'm sure all people would love to contribute to, and everyone would enjoy reading them. Why not a contest on the best fight, or the closest fights. Arena wins or barely defeating Cydrionic with your regen gear on?

I think arenas are fun but something like "Who can charge through Falorran's Keep the fastest wins one of Myrrima's super cookies" or something like that would be hard and original (something a lower level couldn't do though). Could run it in set groups and re-set the zone when one group crashes or fails to do it. Or something for the lower levels "Who ever can clear the named binks wins a lick from Alendamar" *shrugs*

That works well within the game but I was thinking more for the web forum for now. Something like the Top Ten Pick Up Lines Heard on DL or Five Reasons RP is Better then Real Life...

Good idea, Pez. Art is always a good thing. And as you mentioned, some of the limited art that we do have is quite old. I think it's time for some new drawings, sketches, and doodles to help us wind down the time while we wait 30 minutes to rise from the dead.

What about a funny Photoshopping contest, where you take a picture of one thing and photoshop peoples faces from the website onto them, like what they do on fark.com Since I'm not of an artist it's easy to use PS

Probably, most ppl will like enjoy killing in arena not killed there. So i suggest to have the arena that winner is the one who slay the most mobs and players. Or the arena player could join it and kill the mobs in arena which is randomly level rank and finally count the amount of mobs killed. How is that guys?

How about a contest to begin adding some new and exciting content to the libraries? Say, a short tale of no more than a 1000 words, based on something in Distant Lands. Perhaps with the possibility of the winning entry being posted to the library section of the website. It might give the less visually artistic people among us an opportunity to try their hand at creating something.

Could be fun (and creating your own or reading other entries submitted is something to do while regening or waiting to be returned to life).

I agree with the short story ideas. What else could not only help to flesh out the world of DL beyond 'i killed this big thing' or 'i have higher numbers than you' besides local history and tales of intrigue? Could be fun...

Myrima, you asked for forum based contest it sounded like and not dl driven ones. Coule of quick one

Host monthly forum contest for players to describe and design a possible future npc based on a particular monthly choice of creature.
Require minimal 14 entries for prizes to be handed out. Top 5 winners so more people try to play.

Contest for every player to submit a section in the looking to play forum box and the newbie hints box.
Anyone who submits should make their entrries in these two brief no more than 300 words because potential players don't want to read the tons of crap that poeple like me have to write.

Trivial forum based question context, send private message to answer. Questions made by staff. These questions should be in depth about previous forum topics and maybe relate to more than just one topic or reply. Include details in answer as to who said something, and thus forth. Anyone to take the time and seek out the answer recieves a very very small concelation to a chosen character. (should increase forum usage). Prize needs to be worth it though, but not majorly important, maybe just a mpp. One forum seek question per week?
Thus possible 1 mpp a week per players who read the news. Players who do not post in forums for other than just this contest are not elligable.

Frequent Forum Raffle- have a raffle including the forum users who have actively been keeping up in the forum's content. Draw on a bi-weekly basis require of 20 different forum users to have made sensable posts that mean to aid in progress towards the dl website or game itself.

Artistic Cash in- don't just make it to see who's the best, anyone willing to sketch and color a character reward on a scale of MPP's or something like other's have said to add in on the photo side of dl. When I mean reward about anything don't give a wierd stick figure with accessories more than a mear one. Those who've spent time no more than 3.

Contest Prizes- somebody besides me come up with some reasonable prizes that could be obtained through submits in the forum.

There's few things that you can have a contest
for online. It's either going to be visual or
audio contest. So since there was already few
good visual ones suggested before, how about
a song contest like who can create a midi or
even an mp3 tune/song that would have a medieval
feel?

And, another one could be creating a better front
page for this website. Vulsin did a good job and
i don't know he might have another revision in works
by now...but this current version at the moment
looks very outdated (early 90s style). So there
could be a contest for a template for new front
page that or to that extent. Maybe even just a new
dl logo contest.

A midi file, my thinks that just a horrible idea to hear any of you try to be a musician. I've played the piano since age 4, and I'm posotive not all of us have access to a computere midi keyboard controller, let alone have the programs to save, store, and upload it to this website.
Besides, since when did we need a theme song?
Additionally it would cause alot of problems as well to make sure no one borrowed clips from other tunes, best just to stick to the game; cause more than likely if we're gonna have to write a song, me gots the cat in the bag.
