I understand that this should have been the first thing posted, and this should have been drawn up before the forum system went live, but I'm human and I forgot. Shame on me.
This policy applies to everyone who registers in the forums, regardless of when, where or how. So everyone who's registered before this date (September 13, 2005) is grandfathered into this. Don't wanna leave anyone out
Anywho, here's the information that is stored, how it is used and who has access to it.
The email address you provide when registering is used ONLY for topic reply and private message notification, should you opt to receive them. Your email address is publicly displayed by hovering over the "Email" button when viewing a message made by you or your user profile (it can be seen in the status bar at the bottom of the browser window, if you have the status bar enabled.) Spiders cannot harvest your email address from this website as it is all stored in a secure database, so spammers (and by spammers, we mean the big time idiots who send you crap for penis enlargement pills) CAN NOT obtain it from us. We will not give, sell or otherwise release your email address to anyone unless mandated by a legal court system.
While this is not personally identifiable, it is information that is collected. Your password is stored in an encrypted form in the database and cannot be retrieved by anyone unless they have access to your email account. The only way your password can be retrieved, should you forget it, is to have the system automatically send it to the email address you have provided. You can change your password and/or email address by clicking "Profile" from the menu at the top. Since nobody has access to your password that is stored on the server, we cannot release it to anyone.
Your location, AIM (AOL Instant Messenger), ICQ, MSN (Microsoft Network) or Yahoo messenger IDs, occupation, website and interests are all OPTIONAL information and is available to anyone with anonymous access to this website. If you do not wish for this information to be made available, do not enter that information into the boxes in your profile.
Your IP address is logged with EVERY post you make. Only administrators (not even moderators) have access to view your IP address. This information is only used internally and unless we are given a court order to do so, we will not relinquish it to anyone.
We take the privacy of our players and website users very seriously. If you have concerns with any of the above or other privacy-related issues, do not hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
