I have been pretty disgruntled about this topic for quite a long while but I haven't logged an official complaint until now. So here it is:

Aside from the near-junk breastplate that Kajar loads there is virtually no evil cleric gear in the game. Not even a simple trinket from the priests in Hell. I think there is one helm that is designed for evil paladins, but even that doesn't work for evil clerics. There is also the Necronomicon, which is a perfectly fitting item for an evil cleric but it gives power regen instead of mana regen, very lame in my opinion.

When other clerics repo in game I don't even want to look at their max mana, it hurts. The well geared, high level ones have near 2,000 mana while I struggle to even get close to 1,000. The most I have ever had was 912, which non-evil clerics can get without a problem before becoming a Hero. Yeah, maybe its my bad because I didn't roll another character more suitable to the gear game but by now I've grown way too attached to the RP aspect of this character.

But sadly it makes sense. I mean, if there was evil cleric gear where would it load? There are no evil cleric mobs for it to load on. All the cleric mobs in the game are either the cliche good heavenly priests or the serene neutral ones. Except for the area of Hell, where in my opinion there is no cleric gear at all because the person who made that area had a cleric as their main PC at the time and didn't want to be perceived as making gear for himself.

I probably should have brought this up before I became frustrated and lost any desire to play the hack and slash, gear loading aspect of this game. Oh well, at least I have my restrings so I can pretend to be a functional cleric.

There could atleast be some evil equipment that out powers the good

I totally agree that if a mob is evil, it shouldn't load a good item. It's like skewing a zone so a good person won't hurt their align and get good eq at the same time. It's lame.

There aren't any awesome evil weapons either.

I do understand the frustration here, and I agree, there definitely needs to be more
evil cleric items and eq. Going one step further, there also needs to be more male
only cleric items for all aligns. One day I would love to have the time to remedy these
areas and I do plan to. If anyone else has time and would like to impact the game in
a huge way, come build an area that addresses these issues, please.

As a side note, if you find any items you think are illogical, such as the ones mentioned
in prior posts, drop me a mudmail and I'll take a look at them when I can. I might not be
able to get right back to you but it will eventually get some attention.

I'd just like to say to Baernov that you should have spoken up sooner if this has been bugging you. It really is a building issue, nothing more. It can't be fixed if nobody knows it is a problem. Unfortunately, for now, you'll need to be patient or build it yourself. :P

From a staff perspective, we appreciate when people point out imbalances in the game that need to be addressed. Sometimes we don't always agree it is unbalanced, but we like to know what others are thinking anyway. If enough people say it, we will revisit/discuss it. If it has to do with building (as this does) bringing up something like this may give a builder incentive to do an area (with items like you desire) because they were thinking about it anyway, but wasn't sure if anyone would be interested. As far as I'm concerned, as long as it is constructive, it is good.

One thing I realized after writing that post is that pretending to a functional cleric is what Baernov is all about. Having the lack of gear issue has helped define my character role-playing wise, so its not all bad.

I have heard a couple of builders hint that they will be putting something for my class/alignment in their new areas. Which is cool. Though, if I could make one request it would be to put something for evil clerics in Hell. It just seems wrong not to have anything there. But, then again, messing with old areas that builders put a lot of work into smells like bad mojo.

I'd guess a few other classes could use a bit of gear help too. Is there currently any type of encouragement list for builders? If not, I think it might help.

I've always looked at you and tried to count up your mana and frowned. I know how difficult it must have been to get as high as you are without the benefits of massive mana. I made Aligor, and evil lizard ranger. At level 33 his natural mana is around 25. Guess what typical mana gear doesn't work? Moonstone bracelets, an aura of bright light. Two very common mana items. I'm sure I could name a ton more if I thought about it. I know Baernov can. Evil mana gets the shaft but evil is supposed to balance it out with good hp and stops gear right?

I feel for you Baernov, thank you for sticking with it for so long, I love your roleplays.
