I believe the RP version of DL is sustainable, though it will obviously still require a little bit of my time here and there. I've put it up full time on ports 23 and 4000 now. I've also made it so you can select a deity during character creation again so that players can tithe to fix their alignment. Please don't ask me if you can build or work on anything, all development (besides code and systems administration) for Distant Lands is currently frozen. We will have no staff besides myself and I will not be around much. For the foreseeable future the RP version of DL is the only version of DL.

What I would like to see is players PLAYING to HAVE FUN.

I've removed the quest requirements for named levels... updated some of the help files... and increased resurrection items available in the world.

Ok, ok... I've decided to lightened up on death, I do want people to actually play...

It should be based upon real constitution points again. And when you die, you will only be unresponsive for 5 minutes or so.

Count me in. I will once again roam the back alleys, throw stones at the nobles from the shadows, and hopefully rip some flesh off a smooth talking Hero's face.

Hmmm, when you get a chance, can you check out the "delete" option for a character? I made one when the RP version came about. Never intended to keep it. Just to check things out. Went on to delete it and create a new one that I can work with. I can't seem to find the option to delete it..

Yeah, sounds good, I've put that back. I also changed it so you can have up to 3 characters.

One of these days, it's nice to check out the homepage and see it's still runing. Furthermore it's nice to see that dl has taken entirely to a rp world. Perhaps eventually I'll make my way back to the web here soon shortly to hop back on and play.
